Understanding Supported Independent Living (SIL)

What is SIL?

Everyday Support

Everyday Support

Supported Independent Living (SIL) is NDIS funding for help with everyday tasks in your home, so you can live as independently as possible. It is usually provided in a shared home with other participants, with support rostered to your needs, from part of the day through to 24/7 care.

Everyday Support

Our support workers help with personal care, meal preparation, cleaning and household tasks, medication prompts, appointments and budgeting, while building your skills and confidence along the way.

Who Is SIL For?

Everyday Support

How SIL Is Funded

SIL suits NDIS participants with higher support needs who need help throughout the day and want to live in a home with others, rather than with family or in residential care.

How SIL Is Funded

How SIL Is Funded

SIL is funded through the Core Supports budget in your NDIS plan. Rent, food and household bills are paid separately by you, and we will explain all costs clearly before you start.

Our Approach

How SIL Is Funded

Getting Started

We match housemates thoughtfully, build consistent support teams, and plan every roster around your goals, routines and choices. You have a say in how your home runs and who supports you.

Individualised Living Options (ILO)

What is ILO?

What ILO Can Look Like

What ILO Can Look Like

Individualised Living Options (ILO) is NDIS funding for a home life designed around you. Instead of a set house and roster, we build a flexible mix of paid and informal supports that fits how and where you want to live.

What ILO Can Look Like

Host arrangements, where you share a home with a host person or family. Co-residency, with a live-in housemate who provides some support. Or living in your own home, alone or with a partner, with support arranged around you.

What ILO Can Look Like

Stage 1: Exploration and Design

ILO suits NDIS participants aged 18 and over who want a more personalised living arrangement and need regular support, generally up to around six hours a day on average.

We get to know you, your goals and your support network, explore living options together, and design an ILO proposal for the NDIA. This stage is funded through Capacity Building in your plan.

Start Your ILO Journey

Once funded, we set up your arrangement, recruit and match hosts or housemates, and provide ongoing monitoring and check-ins so your home keeps working well for you.
